Creating Exclusive Content
Exclusive content is not something I have much experience with, so when I was asked to talk about it I had to form a general opinion and ask a few other girls for their thoughts.
The question asked was:
Should all content stores have the same content or should one store have exclusive content?
I like to upload everything everywhere. All of my videos are available on all of my clip sites (where filesize limits allow). I have a few reasons for doing this:
- you never know what the site’s traffic will be interested in,
- the more content you have posted, the more exposure you are getting, and
- it’s generally easier to keep track of your uploads
When I joined Clips4Sale, everyone told me it was a site for fetish content. Solo, non-nude, fairly vanilla little Hellen would never do well on a site as out there as Clips4Sale. I uploaded my vanilla videos anyway, and quickly rose to the Top Studio in the Booty Shaking, Striptease, and Masturbation categories. Perhaps so many people had believed and perpetuated the myth that “vanilla content doesn’t sell on Clips4Sale”, and it had created a significant lack of new releases in those areas. When I came along and released multiple videos in the categories, they sold like crazy. Maybe I was filling a void that had been formed. I do the same on Kinkbomb, a site generally known as a place to sell domination content.
The more content you release on clip sites, the more often you show up in their “recently updated” list (or on their homepage, depending on how the site is set up). The longer, or more frequently, you can remain listed as recently updated, the more exposure you will get. If you’re on the site’s home page for half an hour one day a month, you’re going to get significantly less traffic than someone who is listed multiple times every day. More exposure means more traffic to your page, which – hopefully – results in more sales for you.
Having little experience with uploading content exclusively to one site, I would imagine it’s difficult to keep track of what videos you’ve uploaded where. To me, it seems like an easier process to just upload everything everywhere. The only reason I would create exclusive content would be to draw in more traffic to my profile there. Both Kinkbomb and MyGirlFund have clothing labelled with their website names; I can’t imagine many clip sites would want you posting a video with another site’s name, so something like that would have to be exclusive. In the past I created “teaser videos” – short 1-2 minute clips taken from longer previously-released videos – which I only posted on ExtraLunchMoney to increase my number of reviews; I’m still listed as the third most-reviewed model on the site.
As I said, I don’t have very much experience with creating and posting exclusive content, so I asked a couple other girls for their opinions.
xoPinkRush has all of her videos uploaded to her Clips4sale store; she recently posted a few new fetish videos on Clips4sale and they were very popular, but the same type of videos have only been purchased by one person on her MyGirlFund profile. She feels like it’s worth it to upload everything to Clips4Sale, but not MyGirlFund.
I don’t spend too much time on MyGirlFund so I’m not sure how accurate this statement is, but I’m guessing Clips4Sale has much more traffic? The wider the audience you’re appealing to, the more variety you’d want in your content, I’d imagine. MyGirlFund might not have many people into the “tame” types of fetishes, but they are very popular on Clips4Sale. Knowing the site’s customers will give you insight to this.
StarrLo Babyy is fairly new to this industry, and says she’s only just started selling content. Being so new, she doesn’t have an extensive fan base, so she uploads all of her content onto all of her sites. She says the more she gets herself out there, the more followers she’ll pick up. She plans on narrowing down her content based on what sells best on each site once she’s more established.
The more you are seen – on the site homepage, on that “recently updated list, etc – the more you will be remembered. When I first started, I saw BellaBellini on literally every site I knew. Sure, other girls may have been on all of those sites too, but Bella was almost always on the home page of sites when I visited. Seeing her the most often made her stand out more in my mind. This is a really good thing to achieve when you’re trying to sell videos! You want people to remember you and to think of you.
Jalisa Elite says she has some videos that are exclusive to her Clips4Sale store and others that are exclusive to her member site. Since her Clips4Sale is mainly for fetish content and her member site is more “vanilla”, it’s easier for her to manage. She shoots large amounts of content at a time and sometimes certain videos can be considered both fetish and vanilla, so she will upload them to both sites.
Having a fetish site and a vanilla site is probably the way to go if you’re planning on splitting your videos or creating exclusive content. Some guys are really not interested in fetishes, so send them the link to your vanilla site and there’s no problem. Another camgirl I’ve idolized since the start of my cam career, Niina Devoe, has three Clips4Sale stores to keep her vanilla , femdom, and fetish content listed separately, so that her customers can easily find something that appeals to them.
