Camgirl Corner

Independent Content Sales

I don’t think there is a single camgirl who can honestly say she’s NEVER wished she could keep 100% of what she earns.  Most sites only pay us 35-65% of the money we are given by customers.  Instead of sending YOUR customers to sites that don’t let you keep all of your money, you might prefer to manage independent content sales instead.

In no way am I suggesting you steal customers from sites.  Rather, I’m saying if you cultivate new customers – say, via social networking – it’s much more satisfying to receive all of the money they are paying, instead of splitting it with a site.  There are two things you need to know when doing independent content sales – how to send files, and how to get paid!

File Sharing

There are lots of free file sharing sites that camgirls can use.  Which one you use is entirely up to you, of course, but I’ll share my personal experiences.

Mediafire is a popular option and you can password files, but they are not at all adult friendly.  As far as I know they just delete the “inappropriate” files from your account, but that’s still a pain in the ass to deal with when it happens.

Dropbox is another option and very easy to use; you can even “earn” extra space on your account via referrals.  However, Dropbox will suspend your account with no warning if you are generating “too much” traffic.  I don’t know what constitutes as too much, but my account was suspended a while ago.  This unreliability – having my account randomly shut down until who-knows-when – makes business difficult, so I wouldn’t recommend using Dropbox.

WeTransfer is what I use to send a small file to one person.  You type in the receiver’s email address, attach the file(s) you’re sending, and it’ll upload and send it to them.  You get a “sent” and a “downloaded” confirmation email.  Uploading larger files or multiple files takes a long time, though.

Mega.co.nz is my favourite site to use for file sharing.  It’s free, it’s fairly fast, and it’s easy to use.  If your browser is Chrome, you can install a Mega extension so that it shows up as an app.  As far as I’ve seen, Mega doesn’t let you password-protect files, so I wouldn’t suggest mass-uploading files and handing out the links when someone needs them; instead, upload files as needed and then delete them after a period of time.  We all know some guys can be creepers and share those links!  If you’re also on MyGirlFund.com, Mega is an appropriate site to use for sharing larger files, as your name is not shown when you send links.

Now that we’ve discussed how to send files, we can move on to how you get paid for them!

Payment Options

Good old Amazon e-gift cards are always nice for small amounts, but of course we can’t use our Amazon balance to pay for rent and bills, so we need other ways to get our money.

Most girls have a Payoneer account, and that is an option for receiving money.  There are two important things to address about Payoneer:

  1. Payoneer IS NOT a payment processor and you should not be using it constantly; they will suspend your account and question your reasons for payments (yes, they are adult friendly, but for us any interruption in use is inconvenient).
  2. A Payoneer card can be obtained through most camsites; MyGirlFund, ExtraLunchMoney, and MyFreeCams all offer payment through Payoneer, and if you select that method they will give you a sign-up code for a Payoneer account and card.  Remember to use your cam email – NOT your personal email address – when signing up.

To use the private load feature on Payoneer, simply give out the link with your account’s email address; mine, for example, is: load.payoneer.com/LoadToPage.aspx?email=Hellen@HellenRoxx.com .  I believe the minimum amount you can accept is $20, and your daily limit is $1,000.  While I don’t know the exact amount of private loads they’ll let you get away with, I generally keep mine to two per day, and the total amount of money in private loads is never more than the amount of money from website payments.  Use some common sense with your Payoneer account; don’t leave money on your card for long periods of time.  Go to an ATM and withdraw your money when you can.  Whenever my Payoneer account exceeds $400, I’ll go to an ATM and take the money off (since $400 is the maximum that the ATM will allow me to withdraw at one time).

One third of my income is generated by independent content sales.  Using cam and clip sites is still very important, as they are processing payments and managing file transfers and sending you traffic. Independently managing these things takes a little extra work, but keeping 100% of your sales is a nice reward.
