Filming Videos
I’m more of a clip girl than a cam girl at this point; I spend the majority of my time working on creating videos. I’ve just recorded my 600th clip, so I think I’m fairly adept at filming videos now. I’ve encountered my fair share of problems while filming, and based on the tweets and tumblr posts I’ve seen from other camgirls I follow, I know I’m not the only one! Hopefully this short guide will help you avoid these problems in the future when you are filming!
Preparation
First and foremost, tidy up a little bit. Having kids toys or takeout boxes in the background comes across as trashy. If you’re trying to produce quality content, do a quick tidy up of your room, or at the very least the area(s) that will be in view of your camera.
Before I start filming, I’ll get my outfits together and jot down a few ideas and notes for different videos I plan on filming. This is an extra step I do to stay organized, because I usually film a few videos in succession. Obviously don’t do it if it’s a pain in the ass for you, but I find it keeps things running smoothly for me!
Okay, time for a little bit of tech stuff. Turn on your webcam and do a quick check to make sure your area is tidy and your lighting is sufficient. Next, there are three things you should check every single time your camera is on (and a lot of girls, myself included, skip this and have ruined videos):
- Turn Auto-focus off. Turn it off right now. It’s not helpful, it’s not a useful feature, and if you booty shake or wiggle or whatever and your camera doesn’t like it, your video can end up fuzzy. That’s not cute or sexy; it’s annoying to try to watch. Turn.Off.Auto-focus.
- Make sure the microphone selected is your webcam’s mic. I have filmed countless videos without checking this and they’ve ended up with no sound. After filming a balloon fetish video where I popped 400 balloons with my ass and then later realized the entire video had no sound, I remember to check this setting every single time. (Note: if you are a user of ManyCam while you stream camshows, the program occasionally interferes with your cam’s settings and defaults the mic to ManyCam; DON’T leave it like that).
- Double-check your resolution is what you’d like it to be. I film at “Max: 1080p” widescreen. If your webcam is capable of filming at 1080p or even 720p, I highly recommend doing so.
Got all that? Great! Now you’re ready to start filming!
Filming Videos
Don’t feel terrible if you mess up while filming. You have seen my blooper videos, right? Everyone screws up sometimes, and that’s why we edit! When I first started filming videos I felt weird speaking very much, so my first few were tease / masturbation clips. I’ve heard the same thing from a couple other girls, so don’t feel strange if speaking feels a bit uncomfortable. Work your way up to it! As with anything, you’ll get more comfortable as you keep doing it. Other than that, I don’t have too much advice to give on the actual filming, since your content is up to you!
Oh wait, that’s a lie, I do have one thing to say about filming – if you ever do anything with baby oil, do not touch your webcam until you’ve washed the oil off of your hands (I recommend dishsoap).
